Originalky formed to design and manufacture a lightweight positioner for the ERA Technology 1.5M diamond-shaped, Ku band, carbon fiber reflector for BAF Communications, the founder of the firm had begun his career in the late sixties designing antenna positioners on Lockheed satellites, followed by earth station antenna experience with Scientific-Atlanta going on to co-found SatCom Technologies - now a division of General Dynamics) before establishing AvL Technologies. With corporate headquarters in Asheville, NC, and a regional office located in the UK, AvL has customers worldwide for the firm's systems integrators with positioner and complete antenna system products. The firm provides solutions/ support for satellite ground terminals for SNG, mobile broadband Internet access, Disaster Relief, Oil & Gas Data Backhaul, and Defense & Homeland Security customers - now offering a range of satellite antennas for vehicle-mount, flyaway and fixed Earth station applications with sizes ranging from 60cm to 5.0M.
