Through the integrated High Performance Turbine Engine Technology (IHPTET) initiative, the USAF is sponsoring the creation, development, and demonstration of advanced aircraft propulsion technology. The resulting propulsion systems will have dual application to the next generation of defense weapon systems and to more efficient commercial aviation operations. Numerous innovative concepts have been identified as candidates for IHPTET application. The aggressive goals of IHPTET requires the evaluation selection, and further development o the most beneficial and feasible of these concepts. These engineers have extensive experience in the IHPTET programs as well as in the design and development o operational USAF propulsion systems. Using facts and data supplied by the USAF, literature searches through universities and DTIC, and our own in-house engineering expertise, Pegasus will perform feasibility studies to evaluate the potential and practical feasibility of four identified concept. The studies will determine technology barriers, weight, performance payoffs, affordability, reliability and risk areas. These advanced concepts will then be prioritized based upon specific USAF criteria including payoff to IHPTET objectives, compatibility with existing Phase III plans, and practical commercial applications. Our results including feasibility prioritization, technology checklist, and conceptual drawings will be presented to the USAF in both an oral presentation and in a written final report.
