Public Profile

The Athena Group Inc (Athena) supplies high-performance signal processing technology and reusable semiconductor intellectual property (IP) technology that is ideal for system on a chip (SoC) devices, emphasizing security in SoC design. These SoC devices are at the heart of new generations of consumer electronics such as secure e-commerce, cell phones, and digital set-top boxes. Athena's ultra-high performance signal processing system, TeraFire, is capable of sustained execution of over one trillion 16-bit multiply-accumlates (MAC/s) per second - a huge leap forward in computational performance - without the exponential increase in power. Leading DSP processors are only capable of executing tens to hundreds of millions of MAC/s per second. This improved “performance density,” approximately 100 billion MAC/s per Watt, is characteristic of Athena’s proprietary signal processing technology. The low power consumption and high-performance of Athena’s proprietary technology gives their customers a competitive advantage in the design of complex SoC devices for next generation secure communications, wireless communications, and multimedia solutions. In addition to application-level solutions, Athena also produces a full line of fundamental signal processing functions suitable for SoC integration.
