Streamline Automation, LLC (Huntsville, AL), has designed a monitoring/mitigation system that could provide an extra layer of safety for industrial or transportation companies that ship or store chemicals and combustibles. In a commercial setting, Streamline's technology would allow for quick leak neutralization within large containers, coupled with an alerts/communication feature.

In addition to sensors for detecting and warning of fuel leaks, Streamline's solution includes a canister containing neutralizing compounds for mitigating leaks, as well as fans that draw contaminated air into the system and push clean air back into a shipping container. Streamline's offering also includes a communications function for alerting personnel.

MDA originally funded Streamline through a 2008 SBIR Phase II award, which has helped the company develop its solution. Streamline continues to seek partners that can help move the technology into the government arena.

The company, a multidisciplinary engineering firm, also offers services in instrumentation and control systems, custom software development, engineering design services, and chemical-sensing research and development. Other company strengths include project management; system analysis, design, support and integration; and design, assembly, and testing of electro-mechanical systems.
