ATLANTA, GA -- January 8, 2014 -- The National Institutes of Health (NIH) awarded Axion BioSystems, Inc. a $1.5 million grant to develop peripheral nerve interfacing devices using Axion's skin-surface microelectrode array (MEA) technology. Axion's fully integrated system will allow clinicians to precisely control and monitor peripheral nerves through the skin. The final system will significantly increase the amount of neural information that can be non-invasively extracted, significantly advancing the fields of nerve regeneration diagnostics, bioelectronic medicines, and neural prosthetics.
