July 18, 2012—FREDERICK, MD—MetaMedia Training International, Inc. (MetaMedia) is working with the United Union of Roofers, Waterproofers and Allied Workers and the Roofers and Waterproofers Research and Education Joint Trust Fund (Research and Education Trust) to redesign and update their current foreman training and safety program. Rolled out in 2009, the Foreman Training Program is a labor and management collaboration guided by roofing professionals from around the country to address critical issues that provide roofing foremen with the vital tools they need to do their jobs efficiently and safely, and to deal with management issues they may face on a daily basis.

The Foreman Training Program is a four day course that covers a range of issues from personnel management, work organization, effective leadership, and hazard analysis to quality control and quality workmanship. Some of the modules include Communication Skills, Teaching Skills, Diversity Training, Problem Solving, Sexual Harassment, Trade Math, Safety Skills, Leadership Styles, Dealing with Conflict, Job Planning, Set-Up and Reading Plans and Specifications. The modules are activity directed, using an interactive design enabling participants to engage with fellow trainees using shared experiences and activities, rather than straight lecture.

"We are very pleased to have the opportunity to work with the United Union of Roofers, Waterproofers and Allied Workers and the Research and Education Trust and look forward to providing them with a top quality Foreman Training Program with state-of-the-art animations, graphics and illustrations," said MetaMedia Vice President Chris Held. "MetaMedia's extensive background in interactive training, plus our award-winning creative media staff and experienced instructional designers are experts at making programs come alive. This new treatment of the teaching material will be more engaging and animated offering the participants a truly unique learning experience."
