Autonomy Engine, LLC is focused on helping people achieve their goals by becoming more effective communicators. The company is developing voice monitoring and training products that will help people adopt more effective ways of speaking; the first application is aimed at children with speech sound disorders.
Debra's background is in engineering, marketing and high tech business development. Her partner is Nicki Clark, speech and language pathologist.
Last year, Debra entered StartRight! with a business plan for a voice sensing technology that would gage "how you come across" -- whether you sound condescending, emotional, etc. She was a finalist in the competition and learned a lot from the experience.
After a casual conversation about her StartRight! experience, Debra's friend, Nicki Clark, a speech pathologist, had the idea that the two might team up to use the technology to help children with speech articulation difficulties. The two decided to move forward as partners and the technology for Autonomy Engine is in progress.
Debra entered the competition again this year to flesh out their idea to determine its viability. Writing a business plan forced her to look at all angles of the business idea and gave her an opportunity to get valuable feedback from the judges. She plans to use the feedback to make further changes to the plan and to help her in her talks with investors.
She highly recommends StartRight! and as a two time entrant, would do it again.
