Intelligent Software Solutions Awarded $593 Million U.S. Air Force Software Development Contract

Intelligent Software Solutions (ISS) has been awarded the five year, $593 million, Air Space Precision Engagement Research and Engineering (ASPERE) contract to provide an advanced software development framework for building intelligence analysis and data fusion software for the U.S. Air Force. ASPERE was awarded to ISS by the Air Force Research Laboratory, Information Directorate, in Rome, New York. Under terms of the agreement, ISS will expand upon its previous work on the Web Enabled Temporal Analysis System Toolkit (WebTAS-TK) to provide new innovations in key areas such as intelligence analysis and Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance. ISS will perform research, development, integration, testing, demonstration, and operations and maintenance of groundbreaking technologies and concepts in support for the ASPERE effort.

ASPERE provides the Air Force, Department of Defense, Intelligence Community and other Federal Agencies with a software toolkit that provides a customizable data visualization and analysis infrastructure for exploitation of temporal, spatial, entity, and association information, report generation, incident reporting, workflow, and query/search. The ultimate goal is to develop solutions that provide improved situational awareness to intelligence analysts and the warfighter.

"We are delighted that the Air Force has chosen to continue this groundbreaking software development program that it began several years ago," said Jay Jesse, chief executive officer, ISS. "The WebTAS-TK suite of tools has been used by dozens of organizations and tens of thousands of users over the past thirteen years. It's been very fulfilling to be able to provide this rich but general set of capabilities to so many warfighters, license free over the years. This new contract will continue to expand the platform's capabilities as well as make it available to even more organizations, dramatically improving the ability of the United States and its allies to understand and anticipate behaviors of its adversaries."

The WebTAS Toolkit supports more than 100 projects for 70 different user communities across Air Force and other government agencies around the world. These projects range from efforts supporting advanced research and development of machine learning and complex event processing, to the development and deployment of state of the art command and control applications, to cross community intelligence analysis tools. In addition to providing a vehicle for many software development efforts, this award also enables ISS to continue maintaining its ongoing support to operations in Afghanistan, as well as on-site support to many operational commands around the United States and internationally.
