Geocent, an information technology and engineering firm headquartered in Metairie, LA, has received a Silver Boeing Performance Excellence Award (BPEA) for its work done with Boeing in 2013.

The BPEA is Boeing's annual program to recognize superior supplier performance. This year Boeing had over 5,000 suppliers and is awarding 457 Silver trophies. Geocent placed in the top 10% of those 457. Geocent earned this recognition by:

Maintaining a Silver or Gold composite performance rating for each month of the 12-month performance period (Oct. 1, 2012, to Sept. 30, 2013) without any suppressed data;
Having an annual contract payment value of over $100,000; and
Earning a positive General Performance Assessment (GPA) rating.

Having earned the Silver BPEA, Geocent is now in the running to receive a Boeing Supplier of the Year award. Boeing annually announces winning suppliers in up to 16 categories. Boeing states that, "The awards are based on meeting or exceeding quality, on-time delivery, post-delivery support, and affordability goals and demonstrating the ability to anticipate and respond to changing requirements." "Geocent is very honored to have our efforts recognized by Boeing," said Mike Ogles, Senior Vice President of Geocent. "We strive to provide the highest level of service to our customers and look forward to a continued successful relationship with Boeing".

Throughout 2013, Geocent has supported Boeing on the design and manufacturing of the Space Launch System (SLS) in Huntsville, Alabama and the Michoud Assembly Facility, in New Orleans, Louisiana. SLS is an advanced, heavy-lift launch vehicle that will provide an entirely new capability for science and human exploration beyond Earth's orbit. As a major step in the project, Boeing with Geocent engineers will be building the core stage at Michoud. The core stage of the SLS is a modification of the Space Shuttle external tank with the aft section adapted to accept the rocket's main propulsion system and the top converted to host an inter-stage structure. As early as this March, they will have reached a major milestone by completing the conversion of Michoud's Vertical Assembly Center into an advanced welding facility, which will be the largest of its kind in the world.
