Congressman Richard Hanna announcing today that the Rome-based company - Andro, will get a federal research grant to improve the safety of train travel.

Concerns over train safety have been heightened because of the recent train derailment outside of Philadelphia.

Andro will get almost $1 million dollars to study the technology of controlling and monitoring train speeds.

The company will also develop technology to detect and defeat cyber threats to railway systems.

Andrew l. Drozd, The President of Andro says,

"Part of what we're doing is going to be looking at the cyber side of this. To prevent the wireless hacker, to prevent somebody from compromising any type of system. Whether it's a train system, an automobile, whatever it may be."

Andro will provide this research for the Federal Railroad Administration.
