Aegis Technologies Group, Inc. (Huntsville, AL), has developed modeling and simulation software that can provide enhanced visualization, from mapping terrain to providing complex scenarios for gaming and surveillance.

MDA funded Aegis through a 2008 SBIR Phase II contract to develop tools that could support missile defense. Work involved the company's acslX product, an integrated physics-based architecture for modeling and simulation.

The acslX architecture relies on Monte Carlo-based analysis methods to support simulations for a variety of scenarios, including, for example, those involving temperature and airflow.

The architecture has evolved into three-dimensional visualization tools such as LightInt and Vampire®, both used for three-dimensional terrain mapping and distance calculation, as well as scenario development and analyses—whether for streets, for wooded areas, or for other environments.

The company's products can operate on standard off-the-shelf computers or portable electronic devices, and they also can be configured to operate with unmanned aerial vehicles.

Aegis Technologies specializes in modeling and simulation equipment for biological, chemical, radio-frequency, optical, and thermal systems.
