Public Profile

Spun out of Columbia University, MixComm Inc develops and commercializes millimeter-wave wireless applications that enables spatial re-use of spectrum, which further increases network capacity. Building millimeter (mm)-wave chips that power infrastructure such as base stations and repeaters for emerging 5G networks, as well as mm-wave SATCOM terminals, the firm's technology is anchored in innovations and IP developed in the founder's Columbia University lab over several years of DARPA funding. Mixcomm personnel have designed an antenna, RFIC and algorithms that offer significant performance improvements over traditional RF systems. The technology utilizes RF-SOI semiconductor technology for millimeter-waves and have created millimeter-wave beam forming products that outperform existing solutions. Applications for this technology include repeaters/base station, SatCom and radar markets. In October 2021 it was announced that the Swedish firm Sivers Semiconductors - a leading semiconductor company with two vertical markets (wireless and photonic - had acquired MixComm Inc for a reported $155 million
