Previously located in Fall River, MA, primary areas of focus for MIKEL is the development of new and innovative USW combat system products for the U.S. submarine force. The basic building blocks used in development of these combat system products involve acoustic signal processing and information processing technologies using commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware. Some of the basic products developed by MIKEL are stand-alone prototype submarine combat systems electronically interfaced to onboard submarine sensors such as hull-mounted and towed array systems and submarine combat system performance measurement devices. The prototype systems include acoustic signal and data processing software as well as graphical displays and controls designed for easy use and interpretation by human operators
