Public Profile

In March 2008, Lumera Corporation merged with private company GigOptix, Inc. Lumera Corporation develops proprietary polymer materials and products based on these materials for a range of applications. It designs and synthesizes polymer materials at the molecular level to improve their electrical, optical, and surface properties. The company uses these materials to improve the design, performance, and functionality of products for use in wireless and optical communications networks, and biochemical analysis. It offers AccuPath products, NanoCapture arrays, and electro-optic devices. The AccuPath family of compact panel antennas for wireless fidelity (WiFi) and smart antenna applications and systems permits signal transmission and reception. Target customers for these products include original equipment manufacturers of mobile computing and communications equipment; operators of WiFi ‘HotSpots’; and suppliers of corporate networks, municipal communication systems, and defense battlefield networks. The NanoCapture arrays are disposable biochips that are fabricated with a proprietary polymer coating and process. These biochips enable biologists to isolate DNA and protein samples for testing. Target customers for the arrays include bioassay and pharmaceutical companies, diagnostic laboratories, government and academic laboratories, and government agencies. The electro-optic devices convert data from electric signals into optical signals for use in communications systems and optical interconnects for high-speed data transfer. Target customers for these devices include telecommunications component and systems manufacturers, networking and switching suppliers, semiconductor companies, aerospace companies, and government agencies. In addition, Lumera uses its proprietary polymer materials to develop custom-made electro-optic devices for the United States government, including United States Department of Defense agencies. The company was founded in 2000 by Richard F. Rutkowski and has its principal executive offices in Bothell, Washington. Lumera Corporation is a subsidiary of Microvision, Inc., as of May 19, 20
