The Center for Applied Research in Dementia specializes in translating research into practice. Their primary emphasis is the development of non-pharmacologic interventions for persons with dementia and related disorders. They also have worked with other populations that have memory and/or cognitive impairments. They train professional and lay caregivers in effective interventions for challenging behaviors associated with dementia and related disorders, and they use a train-the-trainer model to facilitate dissemination of training within organizations. Their manuals and other training materials are in use in Europe, Asia, North America and Australia, and have been been translated into six different languages.
