Public Profile

Liberty Ammunition was founded by PJ Marx shortly after the attacks on the United States on 9/11. Wanting to make a difference, Mr. Marx set out on a single-minded mission, to develop breakthrough ammunition technologies to transform the capabilities of 21st century weapons and warfighters. Since 2005, Liberty has filed for and received the only patents covering the new main battle rounds used by the US Army with over 30 new and unique claims, but it also continued its development efforts, and has filed for and received multiple additional patents improving the projectile’s range, accuracy, and manufacturability. The Company has transferredits technologies to other calibers including the 7.62×39, 7.62×51, .300 WinMag and .338 Lapua with equally impressive breakthrough performance, doubling the effective range, significantly improving accuracy. The projectiles have been independently tested on multiple occasions vs. competitive equivalent calibers and military counterparts, with Liberty’s projectiles far exceeding the performance of our competition on every occasion. In 2011, the Company went even further and expanded their portfolio to handgun ammunition. Liberty developed a unique handgun projectile that overcomes the historical limitations of handgun ammunition in range, accuracy, penetration, and stopping power. Liberty’s National Defense Handgun rounds achieve over 2000 feet per second velocity vs. a typical comparative 1100 fps. Unlike hollow-point point projectiles, Liberty’s National Defense rounds are designed with a hollow-cavity, maintain their form and weight on impact, and as such are Hague Convention complaint. At a range of 25 meters, National Defense Military Handgun rounds achieve superior accuracy with less than 2 inches dispersion, deliver kinetic energy of more than 450 ft. lbs., create a wound cavity of >4.5 inches in diameter and 12 inches in depth, and penetrate a LEVEL IIIA Armor vest. As such, Liberty limits distribution for these rounds to only Military and select Law Enforcement customers. To address the increasing need for Civil Defense, Liberty customized its military handgun technologies for the US Law Enforcement and Personal Defense market. The Civil Defense rounds will not penetrate the Level IIIA vest, but unlike traditional hollow-point projectiles, they create an unprecedented terminal effect in soft tissue. Traditional hollow-point rounds enable “expansion,” a concept that is now almost 30 years old, but often times have limited stopping power with a single round. Liberty’s Civil Defense projectiles deliver unprecedented stopping power by delivering between 450 and 600 ft. lbs. of kinetic energy (depending on the caliber) and fragmenting in soft tissue resulting in a substantial energy dump without over-penetration, a wound cavity of 5 inches in width and up to 12 inches in depth, and substantially greater terminal effects vs. traditional “expanding” hollow-points.All Liberty Ammunition is designed to significantly outperform traditional ammunition, and do so with lead-free with no modifications needed to weapon systems, optics or magazines (plug and play). Lead is a particularly harmful element and highly poisonous neurotoxin. Elimination of lead in the environment is a major initiative of national and local governments worldwide and the major trend in ammunition. The Company holds itself to the highest standards professionalism and maintains strict compliance with all ITAR and ATF regulation
