Imaging Systems Technology (IST) was founded in order to work in plasma electronics when plasma displays began to become commercially available, but the company has since shifted its business to include engineering design services and the development of a variety of commercial products such as touch system vector to raster video converter boards and tester hardware and software for Bosch parking aid systems. The company was one of the pioneers in touch screen technology and has had clients including national television stations, Sprint PCS stores, Hilton resorts, and others. In 2005, IST spun off a second company, Deep Springs Technology (DST), which aims to incorporate hollow spheres in non-electrical applications and is under contract to fabricate hollow spheres for use in armor systems, buoyancy, and aerospace applications.
