Principals of ICON describe the firm as a construction technologies company using 3D robotics, software and advanced materials to revolutionize home-building. With a game-changing SBIR Award from NASA in October 20, ICON broadened its paradigm of homebuilding on Earth to include the Moon. In partnership with NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, ICON has begun testing lunar soil simulant with various processing and printing technologies. Achieve results will help design, develop, and demonstrate prototype elements for a possible future full-scale additive construction system that could print infrastructure on the Moon.
