What had been tackled originally as an effort to save a historic run-of-river hydropower plant that had been the only source of electric power for Woodstock, VA, the Burnshire project became an effort to modernize the hydropower plant to produce green energy with state of the art technology matched with the century old turbines - integrating traditional hydropower components with modern generators and power electronics. Current research includes variable speed and head hydroelectric power generation and smart grid integration
