Formerly doing business as Idaho Technology, Inc., in 2012, management changed the name to BioFire Diagnostics, Inc. better to reflect the company's focus in molecular diagnostics and biosurveillance. In September 2013, the firm was then acquired by the French in vitro diagnostics firm BioMÃ©rieux. In January 2014 BioFire Diagnostics merged with bioMerieux better to serve their markets and customers, and meet government regulations on security and business ownership, BioFire Diagnostics split into two companies: BioFire Diagnostics and BioFire Defense.
