A long established presence in the SBIR-STTR space, Michigan based BBC Entrepreneurial Training & Consulting has provided support and training to SBIR-STTR interested and participating small firms to include training and proposal development assistance, grants and contracts management, commercialization planning, and programs for tech-based support orgs. In an unusual move by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences, the firm has been encouraged to shift from supporting applicants to being an awardee in their own right. The effort organizes around enabling areas of the country - away from the longtime SBIR hotspots (primarily along the coasts) - to build the integrated support structure that make the difference between an early stage small firm struggling to make it on their own versus having the type of access being able to tap into those that already exist in the long-time SBIR-active areas. The specific states that are identified as BBC's 'territory" are Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, North Dakota and South Dakota.
