Public Profile

In December 2008, AXSUN Technologies Inc had been acquired by Volcano Corporation, a part of Royal Philips. In 2015, Philips closed Volcano and sold their optical technology provider Axsun Technologies - until then part of Volcano - to venture capital firm Anzu Partners for an undisclosed sum. Axsun Technologies had been - and is - organized around development of MEMS-based optical engines for telecommunications, industrial spectroscopy, and medical imaging applications. With expertise in micro-optics, packaging, and precision engineering, Axsun has developed an entirely new class of high-performance, miniaturized instruments and devices which enable a dramatic shift from lab based measurements to online, in-situ, and in-vivo measurements without compromising performance. In mid-December 2018, AXSUN announced the firm was to be acquired by Excelitas Technologies. Consummation of the deal was epxected to occur in early 2019
