Spun out of Indiana University (IU) and using technology exclusively licensed from that institution, Arrhythmotech LLC is a biotechnology company developing a novel heart monitor: a device capable of detecting on the skin, the nerve activity that is responsible for the body's fight-or-flight response. With no invasive parts or components, the firm's product, - designated neuECG - is able to monitor and record both the sympathetic nerve activity and the electrocardiogram signals from the heart - the first system able to detect sympathetic nerve activity without requiring actual nerve contact. This sensitivity could may potentially have wider application than in the cardaic aspace.
