Aquanano is a technology company developing a new generation of high capacity/selective media and functional polymers for water treatment, environmental/industrial separations, and other applications. Working under the trade name Captymer, Aquanano's initial targets are anion separations. The company has developed a suite of anion-selective Captymer media (beads) with exchange capacity equal to 1.5 to 2.0 times those of the corresponding commercially avialable products. Under the brand Captymerä, the company is developing solutions to seperation problems in water, fuel, waste, and diverse other applications. As of 2014, the company was applying its technology to removing chromium IV, perchlorate, nitrate, and arsenic from groundwater. Aquanano's platform technology is capable of being expanded to a diverse area of applications. Aquanano was spun out of Caltech.
