Principal of the firm was a plaintiff in a major law suit against her mentor at the University of Chicago. She sued re. ownership of work which was patented. Though the court found in her favor re. the facts of the case, the federal district court in Illinois refused to grant any relief. According to the trial judge, because Dr. Chou's employment contract required her to assign the invention to the University, she had no ownership interest in the patent, even if she could prove that she was the rightful inventor. Without this ownership interest in the patent, Dr. Chou lacked standing to bring a suit challenging the patent's inventorship
