In 1995 Active Technologies was acquired by Coleman Powermate and now produces portable generators. The predecessor to Active Technologies, Scott Motor Company, was in the business of design, manufacture, and market ferrite permanent magnet motors and associated controls. By 1987 the company was one of the nation's leading producers of boat auto pilot motors, tread mill motors, pulse-width modulated (PWM) controls and floor machine motors. The motor operations was sold in 1989 and Active Technologies was started to develop high performance rare earth alternators and controls.
