SCIENTECH proposes to design, develop, and test an ultra-broadband active biconical antenna, fabricated from thin copper clad fiber glass or teflon (PCB). This active biconical antenna will be designed and be compatible with existing receivers, will be extremely low physical profile, and yet support effective reception in the HF, VHF, and UHF frequency ranges. The ultra-broadband active biconical antenna will be designed to ultimately support tactical electronic warfare, monitoring, signal intelligence, and information collection in a light weight survivable self contained pack. A number of significant design attributes of the ultra-broadband active biconical antenna design concept can be made more specific by considering the potential for: (1) Significant cost savings due to simple basic design and non expensive materials; (2) Simplicity of design model optimization; and (3) Enhancement of elementary broadband antenna design, to significantly increase low frequency performance. The technical objectives will be focused upon validating the technical merit of the design by the modeling of the active module and biconical antenna, meeting the active module design criteria, the performance of the biconical receiving antenna throughout the frequency spectrum of interest, the prototype fabrication effort, and the testing process of the prototype.
