The goal of this project is to demonstrate feasibility of an assistive home-use walker that would provide people with mobility disabilities much greater functional capability to stand and walk. The prototype walker is compact and portable, and can support the user while shifting body weight. One key objective in this Phase I activity is to design, build, and laboratory test a prototype device. A second key objective is to clinically test the prototype at North Memorial Medical Center. User feedback and laboratory findings inform future study and product development.
