The proposed Aircraft Wiring Augmented Reality Exploitation (AWARE) capability gives NAVAIR maintenance teams the ability to leverage today's COTS AR devices and utilize them to scan a subject MV-22 wiring harness, utilize a computer-assisted lookup capability and determine with high confidence the identity of the subject wire bundle. Additionally, Augmntr's AWARE system will assist the operator in competing a quality inspection of said wire harness, and will compare the as-built configuration to the design intent as reported by pre-existing CAD model information regarding that airframe. The efficiencies brought by the AWARE system will enable field maintenance teams to have higher confidence in the inspection events at hand.

Benefit:
The benefits of developing the proposed AWARE system are that aircraft maintenance and inspection crews will have a computer-assisted aid that will help speed the inspection process, and that will give them higher confidence regarding the harnesses inspected. The AWARE technology, as proposed, has substantial direct applicability into many similar inspection use cases, and will provide wide-ranging benefits for inspection teams tasked with the inspection and maintenance of a wide variety of materiel.
