Phase I year
2008
Phase I Amount
$142,856
Advanced Technologies Group, Inc. (ATG) proposes to develop an innovative High Powered Ram-Air-Turbine (HiRAT) capable of producing over 60kw of power at an air speed of 250 knots. During Phase I ATG will design, analyze and test a scaled turbine to determine feasibility. Preliminary analysis indicates that the ATG HiRAT is far superior to existing conventional turbine designs on several levels.

Benefit:
The results of phase I will prove the viability and significance of the HiRAT design. The improvements over existing RATs will provide increased power and reduce aerodynamic drag. The results of phase I will be the successful proof-of-concept rig test. This will lead directly to the phase II design effort. Phase II will take the phase I results and develop a flight type design to be engine tested during phase II.
