ARCON Corporation, in collaboration with The Pennsylvania State University Applied Research Laboratory, proposes to develop a genetic algorithm (GA) that places multiple antennas and/or arrays on a platform in order to optimize the radiation pattern objectives and spectrum co-utilization. We will investigate the application of different types of genetic algorithms to optimize several hybrid electromagnetic models. The proposed research includes: (1) exploring several possible chromosome representations in the GA, including binary, real, and mixed; (2) trying several types of GA, such as Pareto, Efficient Global Optimization (EGO), and mixed integer; (3) testing methods of increasing the computational speed of the cost function in order to accelerate the GA; and (4) finding appropriate constraints on the parameters in order to narrow the search space
