Bugeye Technologies, Inc. will provide research and development to design cost-effective, simulation displays, both fixed and deployable, that have increased resolution, with realistic brightness and contrast, with limited stereographic capability.

Benefit:
1) Immersive, collimated displays for realistic training. 2) 20/20 eye limiting resolution, high brightness and contrast displays. 3.Compatability with head mounted accessories used in field. 4. Low cost display and image generator costs. 5. Stereographic training capabilities.

Bugeye TechnologiesÂ’ concept that a low-cost visual display system with 20/20 acuity using Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) parts is achievable was validated in Phase I. The technology utilizes an optical element and flat panel display to create a visual module. Multiple visual modules could be joined together to create a Virtual Mosaic Display (VMD). The VMD creates a continuous, high-resolution, collimated, virtual image without gaps between images. The technology will be further developed and its application in real-time flight training will be tested and evaluated in Phase II research. The VMD configuration or configurations will be combined with a reconfigurable cockpit fitted with simple flight controls suitable for task training in a real time simulated flight environment. Two VMD test cockpits will be developed simultaneously. One VMD test cockpit will be placed in the Naval Survival Training Institute to test and evaluate the effectiveness of the display technology in a classroom environment. The second VMD Training Cockpit will remain at Bugeye Technologies for development and cross validation. Both cockpits will be fitted with the latest enhancements to the VMD system. Software / IG and visual issues will be more easily evaluated The Naval Survival Training Institute will test and evaluate the effectiveness of the VMD for use for Spatial Disorientation training and other programs currently under development.
