A hearing protection system is proposed that allows the user to listen to ambient acoustic sounds at safe levels. The frequency and phase response of the system reproduces that of an unoccluded ear. Thus, directivity is maintained and a natural sound is achieved. The system is fully wireless and a noise dosimeter is integrated into the system

A hearing protection system is proposed that allows the user to listen to ambient acoustic sounds at safe levels---sometimes known as a "talk-through" system. The system exhibits high noise attenuation properties due to dual hearing protection. Directivity and frequency response is preserved yielding a very natural listening experience. The system is fully wireless, and a noise dosimeter is integrated. The system will be compatible with the aircraft carrier and helicopter/fixed-wing aircraft environment.
