This proposed research effort will investigate novel fabrication techniques to construct quasi-phase matched (QPM) structures to be employed as optical parametric oscillators (OPO's) to generate high average power 2-5 micron laser radiation In particular, these novel fabrication techniques will be developed to construct QPM structure using KTiOAsO4 (KTA) and/or RbTiOAsO4 (RTA) to operate as OPO devices. Analysis of KTA and RTA nonlinear properties will be conducted to determine the optimum QPM designs for efficient high average power OPO operation in the mid infrared consistent with fabrication limits.
