The design of sensors for sliding contacts in gears, bearings and seals is proposed. The sensors will be embedded in a sliding contact mechanism for evaluation of parameters such as temperature, pressure, strain and stress. Priority will be given to sensor integration where temperature and strain may be sensed on a single chip. Software will also be developed for experimentation, data acquisition and sensor analysis.
