A smart kinestatic interactive platform (SKIP) will be used to present, orient, and position work pieces to existing two-axis machines giving these relatively low cost machines the capability of five-axis machines. These machines will be combined with CAD/CAM to produce complex surfaces. During Phase I the machining test bed platform (demo) will be designed utilizing the SKIP concept. One leg will be built and tested with the results included in the Phase I report. In addition, development of smart control software will be initiated.
