A new apparatus that can measure the blood pressure of astronauts /without encumbering their movements is uses a novel bilateral piezoelectric array/microprocessor system (PAAPMS) which measures the blood pressure at the superficial temporal artery. Blood flow computer based modeling of circulation from the heart to the temple has provided the data which verifies the viability of this new apparatus. The use of a multi-sensor array provides both noise cancellation and simplifies the signal processing circuitry necessary for display on a spacecraft microcomputer or for ground-based telemetry monitoring.
