A feasibility program is proposed that will investigate a novel steam ejector Pressure Recovery System (PRS) with enhanced performance for both startup and for operation at lower altitudes. These enhancements will be developed using fluidic methods to create a virtual second stage ejector. The advantages of this approach are significant in that higher discharge pressure operation can be attained using an ejector system no bigger than a single stage ejector. In addition, methods for controlling the steam supply and ejector consumption will be evaluated. The resulting ejector system will allow a faster startup, lower altitude operation and lower total steam consumption for the Airborne Laser PRS.
