Phase I

Contract Number: DASG60-94-C-0054
Start Date: 5/5/94    Completed: 11/5/94
Phase I year
1994
Phase I Amount
$60,000
This proposed study will accomplish the following: Investigate methods for allocating image resources in MLS operating systems. Investigate methods for controlling image processes from MLS (OS). Develop algorithms for efficient image management in MLS OSs. Develop algorithms for efficient image processing security in MLS OSs. Provide a framework for automatic downgrading of images using a MLS OS. Develop a basis for integrated image processing at different security/restriction levels.

Phase II

Contract Number: DASG60-95-C-0088
Start Date: 7/27/95    Completed: 7/27/97
Phase II year
1995
Phase II Amount
$1,550,000
Phase II's primary objectives are to build a prototype MLS operating system that supports MLS image processing; and use an MLS Guard to facilitate MLS. Trusted control of image/media data distribution at different security levels will require additional and extensive research. The project methodology used in Phase I and in Phase II, developed by ARIES Technology Corporation, is called Model Based Object Oriented Systems Engineering (MOBOOSE). By using MOBOOSE the development of several classes of systems engineering applications from aerospace systems engineering applications to knowledge based and cognitive engineering can be addressed.
