The proposed project will determine the feasibility of developing a low-cost, integrated, bar code technology based informati system which can be installed on transit vehicles. The project will result in a survey based application feature requirements definition, a physically integrated hardware and operating system - platform specification to support the APPLICATIONS:, a detailed APPLICATIONS: software design (integrated APPLICATIONS:), and a detailed per-xehicle cost estimate of the system.

Anticipated Results:
It is ANTICIPATED that the successful completion of the Phase I project effort will result in an implementable design for a system which will enhance^ transit Systems ability to accurately monitor on-time performance, determine passenger transfer patterns, track pass and ticket usage, track the effectiveness of promotional coupons, and eliminate the need for manilwl sentry and anlysmie of time Denint psirformanea data.
