Beacon, high-efficiency, RF amplifier, NDB, navigation, battery operation an enhanced marine navigation beacon transmitter is proposed which integrates the technologies of power conversion and RF amplification and employs components and a topology having extremely low losses. The enhanced beacon, in which operating waveforms are digitally generated, produces the same signal which is transmitted by existing systems. Res: enhancements directed in this program to marine non-directional beacons would be contributions to RF transmitters in a far wider range of applications. The technology developed here could later be extended to the design of other unattended transmitters serving navigation, telemetering, security, and communication functions in many other contexts.
