This project develops a system that consists of a wearable computer containing a touch pad for user input, an lcd providing visual feedback, a tone generator providing audio feedback, and a knee orthosis with an innovative goniometer that measures the flexion and extension of the knee joint. The system provides positive feedback to the patient by letting them know when they have achieved specified range of motion goals. It can provide negative feedback by reminding patients that they need to perform a certain task within a given time frame. The system is capable of storing data for review by the treatment team. Finally, the system can monitor the patientÂ’s knee angle for extended periods, thus providing valuable information about the patientÂ’s activity to the treatment team.
