This project modifies the existing prototype arlyn feederbot and uses it as a test bed to investigate the use of that design as a general-purpose wheelchair-mounted robot arm. Researchers develop methods of handling objects in structured and unstructured environments and incorporate the ability to use many different control methods. The resulting product permits many people with severe paralysis to have greater independence and quality of life and to become employed or better employed.
