Arlyn Toolworks will design and build a small, robotic self-feeding appliance. Its practicality will be tested by end users and Occupational Therapists.Summary of Anticipated Results and Implications:At least 750,000 people in the US suffer from paralyzing conditions which can make it impossible to feed themselves. There is no device available which is sufficiently capable and inexpensive to have achieved widespread use. By the end of Phase II we anticipate having developed a small, inexpensive, tabletop robotic self-feeding appliance to fill this need.
