This project proposes the development of carbon capture technology for flue gases using a new class of solid adsorbents. The novel adsorbents proposed here are anticipated of having a high CO2 removal capacity (0.4 g g-1) at wide temperature range and fast regeneration process. In this project, Advanced Energy Materials, LLC (AdEM) proposes to develop the high performance CO2 adsorbents based on lithium containing nanowire materials and also develop a scalable method for applying the adsorbents for industrial facilities. AdEM has developed a break-through technology for scalable manufacturing for one-dimensional metal oxides nanomaterials. Phase I of the proposed project involves three major components: (1) demonstrate the nanowire morphology of proposed CO2 adsorbents leads to high CO2 capture performance with good durability for different applications at multiple temperatures; (2) demonstrate the feasibility of the CO2 adsorption and regeneration processes continuously, and their integration with industrial facilities; (3) scale up the cost-effective production of adsorbents at kilogram scale, structure of porous powders to macroscopic shape adsorbent products with high mechanical strength and stability, and perform the technical validation. AdEMâs proposed concept and its scalable manufacturing methods can lead to the highly efficient CO2 removal from stationary sources at wide temperature range
