An already existing, highly accurate, very sensitive flow meter will be developed for downhole wireline applications. The feasibility of using the flowmeter in Eastern Gas Shale reservoirs will be examined. The flowmeter will be used in newly drilled, recently stimulated, and already producing shale wells in an attempt to assess its feasibility in locating zones in the shales that produce gas, and accurately quantifying the gas flow from these zones. An instrument of this type is needed because no currently available logging tools accomplish this task. The potential applications as described by the company: If the flowmeter is proven not only feasible but reliable in downhole wireline applications, the data acquired from the use of the flowmeter can be used to optimize completion and stimulation techniques and thereby maximize gas recovery from the Eastern Gas Shales. . Therefore, the probability of commercial application of the tool as a standard logging tool for Eastern Gas Shale wells is extremely high since no currently available commercial logging tools can accurately identify flow zones and quantify the flow.
