This direct to Phase II program will focus on developing an open source modem software toolbox based on adaptations to GNU Radio and existing extremely wideband width acoustic transducers powered by wideband gap GaN MOSFETs. The modem receive will be based on existing hydrophones designs with 1-10MHz receive electronics. Transducer and hydrophone designs for modem transmit and receive will employ QorTek’s state-of-art piezoceramic materials. QorTek plans to build and demonstrate a complete acoustic modem using the open source toolbox. It is planned that the Phase II effort will conclude with an in water demonstration of the system of the hardware and open source toolbox.
