Taqtile has developed an augmented reality (AR) maintenance and training application, called Manifest, that is deployed on headset and handheld computing platforms to deliver real-time, on-the-job task execution and workplace training. Manifest is designed to allow organizations to easily create spatially anchored step-by-step instructions for their operations and maintenance procedures with embedded pictures, audio/video recordings, and PDF technical documents. Today, Manifest could be used to improve Armys mechanic training processes, provide hands-free visualization of technical manuals as well as an enhanced record of vehicle maintenance history. We propose to tailor our platform to suit the Armys specific needs by developing a document entry and transfer process wherein a soldier can document faults using a digital form template and quickly attach pictures, audio and/or short-form video recordings as evidence. This enhanced fault documentation could then be digitally transferred in moments from soldier to mechanic, with multimedia evidence included, to reduce misidentification of problems, and from mechanic to clerk, reducing logistical delays. We will also create an AR instructional template for an existing vehicle maintenance procedure to demonstrate the platforms capabilities.
