This effort will produce a design for an ultra-small size, ultra-low weight, ultra-low power (ultra-low SWaP) bi-directional tactical cross domain solution suitable for carriage by a dismounted soldier without increasing his physical load bearing burden. The CDS design will provide assured, filtered transfer of tactical command and control, situational awareness, and sensor data feeds between a classified wireless tactical network and unclassified sensors, data links and processing devices borne by the soldier. The CDS will prevent classified data spillage and cyber malware attacks through protocol and content aware deep content inspection of the data to be transferred governed by pre-programmed security policy rule sets. The approach will utilize proven, UCDSMO certified, COTS CDS software, a power efficient, high performance Xilinx Zynq Ultrascale+ multi-processor system on chip (MPSoC) Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) with quad ARM processor cores and a secure, open source Xen hypervisor virtual machine environment to enforce domain separation. These proven COTS technologies will be combined with a small custom designed input/output power management module featuring multi-port USB/power distribution hubs on both the high and low sides of the CDS. The entire assembly will be designed to be packaged in a rugged, light weight enclosure.
