MACRO Industries working with the University of Alabama Huntsville Rotorcraft Systems Engineering and Simulation Center will re-engineer and optimize its MACRO-Lite HT (MLHT) material for safe containment of next-generation Li-ion battery storage and transport. While current MLHT has been demonstrated to safely contain current Li-ion batteries during a catastrophic explosion, next-gen batteries produce higher flame temperatures (>2,500°F vs. 1,800°F) and high-energy debris. These higher energy batteries are critical in commercial and DoD applications including eVTOL, traditional aircraft, electronic devices and weapon systems. MHLT will offer unparalleled thermal and kinetic protection at an industry leading weight and thickness.
